Learning Support Assistant

Abingdon

£12.40 ph

We are recruiting Learning Support Assistants to join our team Your role will be integral in helping students aged between 16 and 25 develop their independent living skills and encouraging their active participation in the local community. The students have diverse needs, including complex learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, and challenging behaviours. Your proactive and welcoming approach will create a positive and inclusive environment where they can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide 2:1 support to students with complex learning disabilities and autism.
- Facilitate and engage students in a variety of activities ranging from arts, crafts, IT, cooking etc.
- Support students in developing independent living skills in the community
- Foster a positive and stimulating environment that encourages social interaction and personal growth.
- Assist students with physical disabilities in daily tasks as needed.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, therapists, and healthcare professionals.

Qualifications:

- Previous experience working with individuals with complex learning disabilities and autism is highly desirable.
- A caring and empathetic nature, with a genuine passion for improving the lives of young people.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to challenging situations.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable individuals.
- Flexibility to participate in community outings and activities as required.
