We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join our team in North Ayrshire, based at the Douglas Grant Rehabilitation Centre. You will work predominantly with adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties post stroke. You will work collaboratively with patients and carers, as well as the multi-disciplinary team, to deliver effective and comprehensive rehabilitation.
As this is a development post, although your clinical work will be predominantly within the Stroke rehabilitation team you will be supported to develop your skills more generally with adults with acquired disorders. You will be funded to complete dysphagia training if required and will be provided with quality improvement training. You will be a highly motivated independent learner and evidence good time management skills. You will be allocated a mentor and regular support, supervision and opportunities to enhance skills will be provided in line with Turas.
This post will converted to a Band 6 role on successful completion of agreed competencies.
You must hold a University Degree or equivalent and certificate to practise from HCPC (Health Care Professions Council). Membership of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists is desirable.
Car availability for work purposes, and a valid UK Driving Licence is essential for this post.
Ayrshire Central Hospital is within easy communing distance to Glasgow (approx. 35min drive from South Glasgow) and there is ample free staff parking on site.
