Looking for an exciting change in career working on the frontline of Policing In Cambridgeshire?

One where you don’t know what the next call could bring?

Do you want to be the voice that can help in someone’s time of need?

How often have you gone home and told your families and friends that today at work you helped save someone’s life?

There’s no feeling like it

As a Call Handler with Cambridgeshire Police, you’ll be the very first person people speak to when calling 999 for immediate and emergency support.

Cambridgeshire Police covers a large area of Eastern England from the Fen towns of Ely, March, Wisbech and Chatteris in the East, to the cosmopolitan cities of Cambridge in the South and Peterborough in the North.

We protect large and diverse communities across the area. Working together with these communities we aim to deliver an inclusive and professional Police service with Fairness, Integrity, Diligence and Impartiality.

Our Call Handlers speak with members of our communities often during times of personal crisis, including life or death situations, or when there is a crime in progress.

We also provide members of the public with advice and guidance through our 101 service, delivering excellent standards of customer service with every call we receive.

In addition to taking calls and identifying and recording vital details quickly and accurately, the role will also involve managing online reporting of crimes and live chat conversations with the public.

We are looking for people that can bring these excellent standards of customer service along with other essential attributes including:
Compassion
Resilience
Respect
Problem-solving
Teamworking
Attention to detail
Calm approach to pressure
Excellent communication skills

Our Culture is central to the care and welfare of our staff and we work hard in ensuring that all team members have a positive working experience within the Force through having:
An Inclusive Working Environment
Ensuring all voices are respected and heard
Innovation and enterprise are encouraged
The right support in place to flourish
Happy in the workplace
Having trust and confidence in one another and our communities
Being a Call Handler is a demanding and challenging role that’s fast-paced and rewarding. This is your opportunity to make a difference to the communities of Cambridgeshire and help save lives.

We offer a flexible approach to work/life balance with a range of full time and flexible contracts available.
We offer secure parking on site at our Headquarters in Hinchingbrooke and are located close to the local bus and train services in Huntingdon.
You will have access to a range of Health and Wellbeing Services including an Employee Assistance Programme
We also offer opportunities for fully trained Call Handlers to train as Force Control Room Dispatchers, this is an important role within the Demand Hub where you will rapidly and effectively deploy police resources to a wide range of operational incidents.

In addition to joining a great team and enjoying an exciting and rewarding role, you’ll receive extensive training to give you the knowledge and skills you will need for the role.
