Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant in Obstetrics at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH). This is a 10 PA post for a fixed term to commence as soon as possible for 6 months in the first instance and with the possibility of an extension.

We are looking for a Locum Consultant Obstetrician to join a team of fourteen substantive Consultants.

The maternity unit is a busy tertiary unit with one of the largest level 3 neonatal units in the country and a regional fetal medicine unit. It is the hub for the regional Maternal Medicine Network and has 5700 deliveries per annum. By joining us, you will enhance our obstetric team who are dedicated to promoting excellence in care for women and their babies within Cambridge and across the Eastern region. We aim to ensure that CUHFT is the leading centre for obstetric training across the eastern region and nationally.

The role includes delivery unit cover, clinics elective caesarean section lists, special interest session according to the skills of the applicant, and on calls. The on call commitment is 1:14 and involves Obstetrics on call only.

You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
