GSQ Brickwork Ltd is working in partnership with the NHBC to offer apprenticeship positions that combine periods of hands-on training at the dedicated NHBC Training Hub in Cambridge, online training and practical on-site bricklaying experience at a house building site in the Cambridge & Greater Essex area for Hill Partnerships Ltd.
- This is a physically demanding role requiring travel to various sites. Including working frequently at height.

What you’ll learn:
The first five-weeks training will take place at the NHBC Training Hub in Cambridge and will cover the skills and knowledge needed to be Site Ready.

This includes:

- Health & Safety on site
- Setting out and laying bricks and blocks
- Jointing and bonding
- Installing Insulation, Damp Proof Course and fire socks
- Positioning lintels, windows and openings

During the Apprenticeship period further blocks of Training will be conducted at the NHBC Training Hub to balance the development of your skills and knowledge along with the practical hands-on experience of routines on site.

Further skills and bricklaying aspects will be developed through on-site work alongside experienced bricklayers to ensure work is completed in a timely manner to NHBC quality standards.

Following regular coaching and training you will complete a portfolio of evidence and conduct an end point assessment in order to qualify as a skilled Bricklayer.

**Requirements**:

- No previous experience of construction or bricklaying is necessary as full training will be provided.
- You must be 18 years old or more before 31st August 2023 to be allowed on site.
- You should be keen and able to work as part of a team in a lively, outdoor environment.
- You must be willing to listen and develop the skills needed to be safe, productive and deliver brickwork to the highest standards. We are building people’s homes so we need to get it right at all times
- You will ideally be mobile and you must be able to travel to attend the Training Hub and building sites in Cambridge, Essex and surrounding areas.
- Entrants will ideally hold Maths and English qualifications equivalent to Functional Skills Level 1 (e.g. GCSE Grade E-D / 2-3) and if not held already, by the end point assessment you will need to attempt Level 2 - additional support and training will be available via an online learning platform and 1-1 or group sessions as required.
