Khokhar McAdam Chartered Accountants are a long-established independent firm of Chartered Accountants based in Glasgow.
The firm provides a full range of accountancy, audit, tax and payroll services to small and medium sized businesses and takes pride in delivering these services to our clients in a highly professional, efficient and personal way.
**Job Summary**
We are currently recruiting for an Accounts and Payroll Assistant. This role is a full-time, permanent position, fully office based.
This is an ideal opportunity for a hardworking and motivated Accounts and Payroll Assistant to join a small friendly team.
The purpose of this role is to provide assistance to the finance team as well as the Payroll Manager in day to day financial and payroll activities.
**Key Duties/Tasks - Accounts**
- Assist with day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping tasks.
- Support the preparation of financial statements up to trial balance, reports, and tax returns for clients.
- Conduct VAT registrations for clients and ensure compliance with HMRC regulations regarding VAT filings and payments.
- Assist with VAT return preparation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in submission to HMRC.
- Handle correspondence with HMRC on behalf of clients, including responding to inquiries, making calls, resolving issues, and managing compliance requirements.
- Communicate effectively with clients and internal team members to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks and other financial obligations.
- Assist with ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned by management to support the needs of the firm and its clients, including other HMRC-related tasks such as PAYE and Corporation Tax filings.
**Key Duties/Tasks - Payroll**
- Prepare and process weekly and monthly payrolls.
- Starters, leavers and payroll changes processing including holiday calculations.
- Liaising directly with clients on payroll related queries
- Pensions - knowledge of the AE process and pension upload to pension providers website.
**Skills, Knowledge and Experience**
- 2 years accounts experience and preferably payroll bureau experience.
- Up to date knowledge of current payroll legislation and confidence in using payroll software would be advantageous.
- Good IT skills - Word and Excel are essential.
- Ability to organise own work and prioritise tasks.
- Good numeracy skills.
- Demonstrate attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate at all levels
- Understanding of accounting/payroll deadlines & requirements
- Ability to work on own & within part of a team
**Salary**
£24,000 per annum.
