Sexual Health Services provides sexual health care to people across the county of Gloucestershire. The Service covers contraception, sexual health screening and treatment, pregnancy advisory, psychosexual medicine, sexual assault and HIV care and treatment.

The purpose of this job is to provide a comprehensive and effective secretarial and administrative service to the consultants and their medical team, as well as to the Service Manager and Team Leaders.

The Medical Secretary/Administrator provides a link between the Service and patients and also other healthcare professionals where appropriate. This post requires a self-motivated and professional individual with the confidence and ability to work on their own initiative or as part of a team within standard operating procedures.
- Acting as first point of contact for the consultants and their teams.
- Provide secretarial and administrative support including; typing of clinical letters, correspondence and reports etc (either by direct dictation or audio transcription); management of patient appointment waiting lists; answering telephone calls, taking messages, setting up meetings, diary management, filing, archiving, scanning, maintaining stationery supplies, general faxing and photocopying as required. Ensuring all investigation results are appropriately managed in a timely manner.
- To be key confidential contact point for GPs/patients for patients requesting a Pregnancy Advisory Clinic assessment.
- Accurately input data onto spreadsheets and written records and ensure availability of auditable electronic and paperwork documentation.
- Create and maintain filing and recording systems including; recording statistics, archiving, monitoring systems including equipment logs, service records and site information.
- Provide cover for other secretarial/administrative colleagues in their absence as and when required.
- To undertake such other duties related to the work of the organisation as may be assigned.
