About the employer

The Employer is an active lady living in her home in Irthlingborough. She is a mother and a full-time wheelchair user. She has Peripheral Neuropathy, Diabetes, Fibromyalgia and an SPC Catheter.

Main Duties
- To assist the Employer in getting up, dressed and ready for her day. The Employer can transfer into her wheelchair independently. Making hot drinks and snacks as required.
- Personal care as required. The Employer is doubly incontinent and has an SPC catheter. You will need to clean the SPC site and assist her to empty her catheter bag and help her change pads. All necessary sterile equipment is provided.
- Any other task which the Employer may reasonably ask you to do which falls within the scope of the job as a Personal Assistant.
- Assist with making lunch (reaching items that the Employer is unable to retrieve and general assistance etc.). Tidying the kitchen afterwards. Personal care as required.
- Any other task which the Employer may reasonably ask you to do which falls within the scope of the job as a Personal Assistant.
- To assist Employer in readying herself for bed - general support and assistance as required. Personal care as required.
- Any other task which the Employer may reasonably ask you to do which falls within the scope of the job as a Personal Assistant.
- These two hours are mainly to help the Employer with cleaning; cleaning in rooms that are not accessible for the Employer, changing beds, helping clean the bathroom, dusting, cleaning skirting boards, putting things away etc.
- To help her do normal things i.e. help her do some gardening, carry things for her and to help her water her indoor plants etc.
- Occasional assistance with shopping and appointments, and any jobs she needs to do that requires additional support etc.
- Any other task which the Employer may reasonably ask you to do which falls within the scope of the job as a Personal Assistant.

Please note, the lunchtime and evening calls do have some flexibility in the timings of the calls. This can be discussed and agreed at interview stage.

Additional employment information

The successful applicant will be friendly, able to give empathetic support, while respecting the employer’s independence but also able to take instruction.

Please note the Employer has a very large dog (as well as a smaller one) so you must be comfortable around animals. No pet care is required.

The Employer has three children, but childcare is not part of the role.

Must be flexible, trustworthy and active with a good sense of humour.

A current clear DBS check is essential (or you must be willing to undertake one).

Please note you will be directly employed by the person (or their representative) that you will be assisting. The Council is **not** the employer.

Sponsorship cannot be provided by individual employers. Your right to live and work in the UK must already be established.
