Clinical Cardiology Scheduler

To be responsible for the scheduling and admission of all elective and emergency patients requiring cardiological investigation, diagnosis and treatment.
This involves managing waiting lists for Consultant cardiologists and visiting cardiologists.
To adhere to National Patient Access policy, waiting time targets, the National service framework for Coronary Heart Disease and NICE guidance
To coordinate all activity taking place within the service’s four laboratories and communicating with all relevant parties to ensure high resource utilisation.
**KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- To manage and coordinate all inpatient and elective activity through the 4 catheter labs.
- To deliver high catheter session utilisation and in session utilisation through managing consultant colleagues and MDT members capacity/ availability.
- Attending board rounds to support patient flow, advise staff in the preparation of patients and to support/educate staff.
- To organise and coordinate additional sessions
- Minimise impact of emergency PPCIs on waiting lists/ cancellations.
- Reschedule all cancellations within 28 days
- To schedule the admission of all patients in accordance with the patient access policy and to support the delivery of National targets.
- To work alongside the waiting list team to ensure timely elective/ non elective scheduling.
- To manage the admission of acute emergency transfers from other hospitals, making the appropriate changes to schedules at short notice and communicating these changes to the clinical teams
- To liaise with the bed management team regarding planned admissions.
- To make urgent changes to schedules as a result of availability of beds, non-attending patients, emergency admissions, staff absence and equipment failure.
- To manage waiting lists on an ongoing basis, proposing changes which may be required to alleviate actual/ potential problems. To consult and negotiate with the multi disciplinary team regarding proposals and implement once agreed.

**KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Managing all referrals and proactively adjusting capacity to ensure equity in waiting times.
- Attending board rounds to support patient flow, advise staff in the preparation of patients for procedures and to support/educate staff.
- To organise and coordinate additional adhoc sessions
- Support the delivery of additional private work
- Support the delivery of the BPT for STEMI patients.
- Minimise impact of emergency PPCIs on waiting lists/ cancellations.
- Reschedule all cancellations within 28 days
- To schedule the admission of all patients in accordance with the patient access policy and to support the delivery of National targets (referral to treatment, Best Practice Tariffs etc)
- To work alongside the waiting list team to ensure timely elective/ non elective scheduling.
