You will be working with the senior leadership team in Workforce and OD Directorate and your role will be instrumental in building on the Trust’s enviable reputation as an employer of choice by providing specialist occupational health advice and guidance.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of HR, you will be supported by a team of Occupational Health practitioners, Occupational Health Physician and an admin team working as part of a highly qualified and experienced team of Occupational Health professionals.

The Head of Occupational Health (OH) role is to provide a strategic organisational vision for OH services, as well as leadership and direction to all staff in the team. The Head of OH leads and works closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team consisting of an OH physician, specialist nurses, technicians and admin & clerical staff. The postholder also ensures that the service meets all key performance indicators, providing an exceptional, high-quality service that promotes, maintains and improves the health of employees, safeguards against risks arising from their work and working environment and promotes the health of the organisation. **The post holder is expected to**: -- Provide a strategic organisational vision for Occupational Health (OH) services for the Trust, working closely with clinical and managerial colleagues across a range of disciplines and functions.
- Provide effective leadership to all members of the OH team and play a key leadership role in the Workforce and OD Directorate, providing professional advice and working collaboratively to advance the Trust’s people priorities in line with One Culture of Care.
- To manage the provision of an efficient, high quality operational OH service that is responsive to the needs of the Trust and external organisations under contract.
- Ensure that all key performance indicators (KPIs) for the services are met and that there are robust and routine monitoring and reporting arrangements in
- To ensure compliance with responsibilities imposed by health and safety legislation, whilst maximising and promoting the health of all employees.
- Develop an overall service plan for the department, with consideration of the Trust key business objectives and national initiatives; set priorities, arrange resources and ensure work is carried out in timely
- Be responsible for the management of budgets for the OH
- Ensure a continuous quality improvement approach to all aspects of service and team
- Promote healthy team, encourage engagement, reduce sickness absence and support improvements in attracting and retaining
