Here at Peabody, we have an opportunity for a **Support Worker **within our **Mental Health Service, **on a permanent basis, in Islington, Southwood Smith Street.

In this service we focus our support on people who are experiencing multiple disadvantages or have had traumatic experiences. Many of them have experienced homelessness, substance misuse, involvement with the criminal justice system and mental ill health.

Our Southwood Smith Scheme has 10 beds and 5, 2 bedroom self-contained flats, just off Upper Street with its busy shops and restaurants. It is close to Angel, Essex and Highbury and Islington stations.

The scheme offers _24 hour high-level_ support (for example when our customers are coming out of hospital or forensic services).

Our customers in this scheme are supported to manage their tenancies and with the goal of becoming independent.

**What we’re looking for**:

- Do you have experience and/or knowledge of (best practice) in supporting a mental health client group or vulnerable adults?
- Do you understand what level of support is required or what it should look like?
- Could you assist customers to manage their tenancy/accommodation and promote their recovery and independence?
- Do you have the right values and empathy to work with our customers?
- Do you have great IT (Microsoft) and communication skills?

**A bit about the role**:
As a** Support Worker (Mental Health Supported Housing, Islington), **you will be working with a team of_ highly _motivated _compassionate_, and _dedicated colleagues_ supporting a caseload of vulnerable customers.

You will deliver high quality and effective support service, which promotes the _independence_, _wellbeing, _and _inclusion _of our customers.

Some of the key results for the role include:

- Carrying out needs and risk assessment, complete support plans, provide support along with carrying out regular review.
- Supporting customers to sustain their tenancy, identify and move onto housing which best meets their needs.
- Liaising promptly with colleagues, partner agencies and other stakeholders regarding safeguarding, welfare, and risk concerns.
- Being proactive in researching and promoting local resources to customers, working with internal and external services.

**_ Relevant experience would be an advantage, as would an understanding of safeguarding and knowledge of the benefits system along with a relevant qualification in the field of Mental Health or Adult Support._**
- This role will require an Enhanced DBS check._

Interviews will take place between week commencing the 18 and 25 March.
