**Job description**:
The Local Transport Directorate is right at the heart of the Department for Transport’s business. Most journeys made in this country are short and local. They are the journeys that we all make, if not every day, many times a month. Our work makes a huge difference to the daily lives of millions, across England and across the UK, whether they are by bus, tram, walking or cycling.

This role sits within the Bus Recovery & Reform Division, which supports the recovery from Covid and the wider reform of the bus sector (in line with the National Bus Strategy). The postholder will work as part of a small team who manage the payment of subsidy to bus companies in England, in the form of the Bus Service Operators Grant (BSOG)

We are looking for a motivated individual with a passion for delivering a quality service, an eye for detail, and excellent communication skills.

The roles sit within the operations team, and the successful applicants will work across the current and future grants scheme processed by the department which currently consists of BSOG.

**Person specification**:

- Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Checking the accuracy and validity of claims.
- Determining how much is to be paid and liaise with operators on the details of the claim.
- Contribute to improving our ways of working as a Support to the Bus Grants Management Digital System, including assisting digital support for the claims process.
- Issue correspondence to recipients of the grant.
- Support line manager and team lead on more complex queries and solutions

**_About you:_**

To be successful, you will have strong communication skills both verbally and in writing with the ability to adapt your delivery to a wide variety of audiences. You have experience of processing complex information and can explain this information to others verbally and in writing.

You can use various tools to research information to provide assurance of data. You can use and have experience of using various Microsoft Office suites such as Excel. You will bring with you your experience of using a SharePoint system or a similar platform within an organisation.

**Additional Information**

A minimum of 40% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace, although requirements to attend other locations for official business, or carry out detached duty in another DfT workplace, will also count towards this level of attendance.
