**Background to Red Rose Recovery**
Red Rose Recovery (RRR) was established as a charity in 2012 and has become nationally recognised as a pioneering organisation in developing recovery systems and creating opportunities for people affected by substance misuse, offending behaviours and/or dual diagnosis. We operate across Lancashire and Cumbria and work with a wide range of partner organisations in many different settings to build accessible and inclusive pathways for personal development and recovery. 90% of our staff have personal experience of multiple disadvantage and they provide inspiration and hope to people who are still struggling to find a way forward. RRR also supports and helps co-ordinate the Lancashire User Forum which is the UK’s largest mutual aid forum and active service user group delivering community action and recovery support across the county.
**Job Summary**:
Red Rose Recovery is commissioned for a number of objectives, including:
- to establish and develop recovery communities across Lancashire.
- to support people with complex, multiple needs and vulnerabilities.
These Voluntary Service Coordinator (VSC) posts will be based and integrated within the IRS (Initial Response Service) at The Mount in Accrington. The IRS provides urgent and routine mental health triage, referring people on to a range of services including Home Treatment Teams, Talking Therapy Services, Community Mental Health Teams, Substance Misuse Services, Learning Disability Services, Local Authority support and 3rd sector agencies.
The VSC will be expected to:
- Support the IRS team in the signposting of service users that have been triaged by a practitioner and would meet the criteria for a community based VCSFE service. The VSC will establish with the service user/carer which services would support them in the community and support the person with the transfer to the service.
- Where there is an agreed outcome between the service user and VSC, the VSC will inform the service user that the relevant information will be shared.
- Develop strong and supportive relationships amongst the local VCSFE organisations, community and neighbourhood groups, they will create a menu of diverse community groups and assets and promote diversity and inclusion.
- Work with a diverse range of people and communities.
- Develop an up to date, working knowledge of the responsiveness of local groups to accept referrals.
- Offer information and advice to service users accessing the IRS including older people and their carers.
- Communicate well with patients, carers, volunteers, colleagues and with professional staff in other organisations.
- Respect client confidentiality at all times.
- Maintain a detailed knowledge of local community and voluntary sector services to support signposting of individuals.
- Maintain an awareness of services / activities to improve an individual’s health and wellbeing.
- Keep records for monitoring/evaluation requirements.
- Attend meetings when required.
- Manage own workload through planning and organising own work schedule, obtaining and organising the necessary information and resources
- Have an awareness of the relevant safeguarding policy.
- Be required to raise any concerns regarding safeguarding on the individual to the attention of the relevant nominated lead within the team in line with the relevant policy.
- Contribute to and be involved in appropriate training programmes to support the role.
- Signpost where necessary to statutory services in partnership with the individual, GP or Practitioners.
- Support the overall ethos, principles and practices of the VCSFE.
- Undertake any other duties which may from time to time be required and which are consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the post.
- Ensure a person-centred approach to signposting and onward referral to a full range of local VCSE and statutory services, utilising a Directory of Support (DoS) and local knowledge.
The VCS will be expected to maintain detailed, accurate records for each client on our internal database and work towards agreed, realistic targets.
The VCS will also be expected to be an advocate for Red Rose Recovery and The Lancashire User Forum.
You must also possess a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle during your working hours.
**In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, the VCS will be expected to**:
- To liaise with the wider team supporting the needs of our members and volunteers within the community.
- To work with Red Rose Recovery partner organisations to ensure the best use of time and resources.
- To raise awareness of the work of Red Rose Recovery by promoting a good public image.
- Taking part in, supporting and helping to grow the Lancashire User Forum
- To work in accordance with all Red Rose Recovery policies and procedures.
