This role will have responsibility for delivering the people policy strategy that will underpin our people strategy, our employee value proposition, proactive policy development and legislative requirements. The role will also take a lead on any policy relatedprojects to support our culture with continually improving and progressive policies that will support colleagues to be successful in the work they do and foster our desired culture.

Salary Range:
Non London: £52,000 - £57,000
London: £57,000 - £62,000

**Essential Job Duties**

**Policy Development**
- Deliver a policy strategy that is aligned to our people strategy, deliver a progressive and completive policy landscape.
- Ensure policies are designed to support a great colleagues experience and to be easily understood and manager by managers
- Gather an interpret internal and external data to build insight on key business trends to develop policy recommendations
- Ensure there is a balance maintained between the need for policy and guidance
- Harmonise HR policies across all our divisions where possible
- Use simplified language to aid colleague engagement and understanding of our policies
- Identify opportunities to improve our policy landscape in support of our overall employee value proposition
- Deliver policy in a complex environment including TUPE and working with the TUs and consulting where appropriate
- The role will review, design, and embed all HR policies within the business to ensure that our policies and processes reman fit for purpose and meet our regulatory requirements.
**Technical knowledge**
- Maintain a solid understanding of UK employment law alongside best practice and trends, to proactively develop and manage an HR policy landscape that supports colleagues and the business alike.
- Be a key contact for our HR Advisory service providers, providing them with guidance on policy.
Third Party Management (HR advisory service (HAS) support for managers/colleagues)
- Play a lead role in ensuring there is a constructive and proactive relationship between Maximus and our HAS ensuring contractual obligations are met, whilst ensuring Maximus utlises the HAS it’s full capabilities
- Identify opportunities for HAS to be developed to provide an improve colleagues/manager/HR Operations service
- Utilise HAS service satisfaction scores to ensure there is continuing improvement
- Be a key contact between Maximus and our HR advisory service account manager to advise of business changes and escalate service issues Collaborate with HR advisory service providers to ensure all policies are updated in accordance with legislation and areavailable for colleagues through our online portals
- Ensure Maximus HR operations teams comply with the agreed terms of reference, and governance as outlined in the operational handbook
- Work with HR advisory service providers to identify ways to encourage managers and HR operations to better utilise the service and online portal
**Stakeholder Management**
- Play a lead role in identifying policy opportunities using stakeholder relationship, knowledge of the people strategy and evolving working practices to shape proactive policy development.
- Establish effective relationships with senior HR colleagues, as well as collaborating on the development and implementation of HR policy
- Contribute to HR operations with timely and regular updates on policy work and key changes
- Work closely with the Senior Employee Relations Specialist to identify areas of development and refinement within the current suite of policies
- Advise HR operations on the development of policy and guidance and deciding on when policy is needed
- Use expertise in UK employment law and insights to make recommendations and advise on compliance, risk mitigation and effective policy communication with a range of stakeholders
**Collaboration**
- Assume the role of HR policy lead in key business change projects to ensure legislative compliance and factors influencing employee engagement are considered
- Collaborate with HR colleagues and wider business stakeholders to ensure that HR policy proposals are practical and align with our business strategies and operational needs, as well as balancing legal compliance, good HR, and engagement practice.

**Education and Experience Requirements**
- Educated to degree level (desirable)
- CIPD qualified (Associate member of CIPD as a minimum)
- At least 3 years’ operational HR experience, preferably in a large and complex organization
