**Job description**:
The Assistant Head High Grade Messaging role sits within Defence Digital’s Network and Defensive Cyber Operations Team. The role is responsible for delivering High Grade Messaging services to a global user base on a 24/7/365 basis, through an empowered workforce of over 100 staff.

The Assistant Head High Grade Messaging will be responsible for:

- Leading and managing a large, dispersed team to meet demanding IT service delivery outcomes.
- Maintaining the highest levels of availability and performance of the IT services within the role’s remit.
- Managing the introduction and sustainment of new technologies into the business environment.

**Responsibilities**:

- Lead and manage the service delivery of High Grade Messaging to Defence, working closely with service support providers as necessary.
- Lead and manage the resource required to deliver live services and sustainment activity.
- Manage risks and issues associated with the live services within the post’s remit and work closely with service providers, other areas of the operations HQ, wider Defence Digital and stakeholders, as required, to identify and enact suitable mitigation plans.
- Work closely with service providers to resolve live service incidents and escalations, liaising across MOD stakeholders.
- Manage the sustainment of live services within the post’s remit, triggering activity from Delivery Teams as required.
- Deliver services in a manner compliant with policy and certification as set by MOD authorities and agencies. This includes but may not be limited to Security (ensuring Crown Oversight as required), Safety & Environment, IT Service Continuity Management and Accessibility Needs.
- Lead security incident / vulnerability investigation and reporting, in liaison with MOD security authorities.
- Maintain knowledge of the services and underpinning technology, within the post’s remit.
- Attend and chair board meetings and working groups relevant to the role, e.g., Management Board, Heads of Department, Command Action Groups, service review meetings, Major Incident groups, Problem Management groups, customer issue reviews, standards development and CSI groups.
- Represent the Head of Network and Defensive Cyber Operations, for both internal and external business, as the Subject Matter Expert of the services within the post’s remit.
- Line management of staff, ensuring workloads are balanced efficiently and resource issues are escalated in a timely fashion.

A recent knowledge of High Grade Messaging services would be advantageous but is not essential.

Dependent on the ‘tasking’ and business need, there may be a requirement to travel to meetings within the UK (or potentially occasional overseas visits). This post does not offer any assistance with relocation allowances.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Location: The post will be based at MOD Corsham.

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their Defence Digital office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.
