This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace (your permanent duty station) and working from home as a personal choice, depending on security limitations of the work. Currently the expectation is for 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.

**Job description**:

- The Directed Energy Weapons (DEW) Team Leader will be part of the Defence Electromagnetic Authority (DEMA) Team, who deliver crucial Defence enterprise-wide services to enable military capability to use the electromagnetic spectrum globally. This role is responsible for ensuring that Defence systems and platforms are protected against the effects of Radio Frequency (RF) Directed Energy Weapons. This is a pioneering new team, which will be looking to establish the go-to MOD team of experts responsible for DEW protection. The DEW team is likely to expand in size and responsibility as the initial findings are produced over the next 3 years.**Person specification**:
The DEW Team Leader will be responsible to the EM Protection Assistant Head for the completion of the following work packages:

- Taking stock to identify global RFDEW threats, capabilities, stakeholders and standards.
- Identify and keep track of global developments in RFDEW capability.
- Distinguish key differences between Friend and Foe RFDEW protection criteria.
- Drive and facilitate the production of an RFDEW protection policy.
- Produce an agreed UK RFDEW Electromagnetic Environment (EME).
- Produce an RFDEW protection standard.
- Identify and procure suite of test equipment needed to implement this test standard.
- Leading to rolling out the testing of RFDEW protected capabilities, using this standard and test equipment.
- Support and review technical modelling exercises;
- Appropriately provide advice and guidance to Ministry of Defence and Government customers;
- Independently and working alongside other Engineers to help customers identify and mitigate the Spectrum risks to which they may be exposed;
- Identify MOD DEW Stakeholder Group.
