The systemic anti cancer therapies coordinator role sits within cancer care and is responsible for coordinating treatment for patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products and oral systemic anti cancer therapy treatments. This role covers both outpatients and our inpatient cancer care wards as well as patients receiving treatment closer to home such as patients that receive their treatment at our outreach service at Lymington hospital. This role also helps support coordination of patient's that are receiving treatment in their homes.

Whilst gaining knowledge of chemotherapy regimens and chemotherapy prescribing systems, co-ordinate the provision of SACT treatment to all Cancer care service users. This is to include prior planning to enable the see and treat model to be fully utilised.

2. Liaise daily with multidisciplinary leads, provide them with clinic lists and schedules of all patients requiring SACT treatment.

3. Liaise with all treatment schedulers to cross check all planned SACT treatment and resolve any related issues

4. Liaise with and influence all treatment schedulers and treatment prescribers to ensure patient scheduling is kept up to date and accurate.

5. Coordinate with all cancer care service users and ensure treatment is provided at the time required using excellent communication skills and by developing good working relationships with all departments, ensuring planning and scheduling are optimised to achieve this.

6. Liaise between oncology pharmacy and treatment areas to ensure the availability and priority of SACT

7. Point of contact for patients and / or representatives regarding the preparation of their intravenous treatment. To communicate with patients and their relatives in a calm, courteous and reassuring manner, participate in providing information and support. Keep patients informed of issues affecting their treatment.
