Are you an experienced midwife with an interest in education and training? Do you want to contribute to, and support, the development of midwifery practice for all levels of midwifery staff and students?

This full-time, substantive post is to work within and support the Maternity CPF team to deliver our education and training programme, with specific responsibility for our midwifery undergraduate programme. The post holder will have the opportunity to build and enhance both their clinical and educational skills, and leadership experience.

The role is part of UCLH NHS Foundation Trust’s commitment to funding and supporting education and development, creating attractive career pathways and new ways of working for midwives.
- Have responsibility for supporting our midwifery students, and lead on planning their practice placements.
- Will participate in the general in-house training activities of the Maternity CPF team, including the monthly Midwives’ Training Week (MTW).
- Encourage staff in their professional development
- Work collaboratively with the MDT to maintain an evidence-based learning environment
- Develop your own portfolio of educational and clinical interests to maintain clinical competence

- To lead and take responsibility for supporting our midwifery students, and lead on planning their practice placements working collaboratively with the HEIs.
- To review placement capacity and consider creative opportunities for expansion.
- To train and develop more Practice Assessors
- To promote and support the development of midwifery practice for all levels of midwifery staff.
- Participation in the general in-house training activities of the Maternity CPF team, including the monthly Midwives’ Training Week (MTW).
- To encourage staff in their professional development.
- Responsible for co-ordinating Trust wide development programmes in collaboration with the Lead Midwife for Education.
- To develop appropriate policies, guidelines and strategies.
- To work in conjunction with the midwifery teams to deliver on current issues related to midwifery including local, regional and national health agendas.
- To promote and maintain effective communication by disseminating all relevant information, relevant to practice development.
- To develop your own portfolio of educational and clinical interests
- Support the orientation of new staff regarding their role and associated activities.
- To work within a multidisciplinary team, with senior midwives, the Clinical Practice Facilitators and others to develop midwifery practice.
