Refugee and Asylum Seekers may be at risk or vulnerable following their journey to the UK and Cornwall.

**The Team**

The new Refugee and Asylum Seeker Outreach and Support Team will be part of Community Safety within the Resilient Communities team, covering the whole of Cornwall. We are a creative and hardworking team from a range of backgrounds who look out for each other, value difference and prioritise wellbeing.

**The Role**

The Refugee and Asylum Seeker Outreach and Support Team Lead will manage and develop a team of workers. You will also carry your own caseload and will assess individuals’ needs and provide flexible, tailored one-to-one support. This will involve building therapeutic relationships with individuals based on trust, collaboration and equality. You will work with a range of statutory, community and independent sector partners taking a collaborative multi-disciplinary approach to ensure the needs of individuals are met.

As a team leader you will support and develop the team with a strong focus on using learning and reflection as a means for improving practice. You will create and model a culture of honesty, respect, resourcefulness and creativity within the team. You will represent the team at capture the learning and insight generated by the team and share this to enable commissioners and partners across Cornwall to improve the system’s collective offer for refugees and asylum seekers.

Through openness, cultural sensitivity and valuing diversity the team will work to raise the profile of refugees and asylum seekers in local communities, to promote inclusion and create sustained change in reducing intolerance and hate crime.

Proficiency in Ukrainian, Russian, Arabic or any other languages is desirable but not essential.
