**MAIN DUTIES OF THE POST-HOLDER**: Clinical Duties Attach ECG ambulatory monitoring to patient. Removal and downloading of ambulatory ECG. Preparation of monitors for the next diagnostic clinic. Discuss with patients issues relevant to their diagnostic investigations.

Liaise with Cardiac Physiologist highlighting any concerns re the patient. Maintain accurate documentation with regards to the patient record. Maintain stock levels. Give advice and support to patients and carers, within duties appropriate to grade and level of competence.

Communicate closely with other colleagues, reporting on patients condition as appropriate. Carry out, after appropriate training, identified clerical tasks within Diagnostics these will include: Welcome patients attending the centre in a warm, friendly and courteous manner. Update clinical system when patients present. Maintain an accurate manual register of patients in the event of any break in computer service.

Answer the telephone. Notify other departments of any patient arrivals where necessary. Ordering and putting away stationery and stores. Inputting data on computer and updating records.

Travel to West Lancashire Clinics as and when required. Run 12 Lead ECG clinics in West Lancashire when required. Ambulatory Blood pressure Clinics in West Lancashire when required - Monitors will need to be prepared for each patient and downloaded when the recording is finished Other Relevant Duties Adhere to policies and procedures of the company and keep up to date with nursing procedures and changes within the role. Work within the framework of relevant Department of Health Initiatives and local Health Improvement Plans.

To observe national and local policies and procedures in respect of: Fire Child Protection Data Protection Act Basic Life Support Substances Hazardous to Health Clinical Unform policy and dress code Record relevant details of accidents and untoward incidents in accordance with policy. Maintain good industrial relations. To undertake such duties as may be required from time to time as are consistent with the responsibilities of the grade and individuals level of competence. Education Identify training needs of self and participate in relevant in-service education and mandatory training.

To attend staff meetings as required, including working groups to direct and implement change where appropriate. Quality Alert other team members to issues of quality and risk in the care of patients. Ensure own actions are consistent with clinical governance systems. Practice in accordance with agreed standards of care.

Enable patients to access appropriate professionals in the team. Ensure stock items under your control are available in the treatment and consulting rooms. Know how clinical governance affects the HCA role and bring to the attention of more senior staff any specific risk situation. Know the practices policies in the respect, especially the whistle-blowing policy available in the practice staff handbook.

Be able to manage your own time effectively. Give and receive feedback professionally and defuse situations using problem resolution skills to reduce potential for formal complaints. Health, Safety & Security The post holder will be required to: Observe local Health & Safety arrangements and take reasonable care of himself/ herself and persons that may be affected by his/ her work. Use and encourage others to be familiar with the personal security systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines.

Identify the risks involved in work activities and undertake them in a way that manages the risks. Use and encourage others to adopt appropriate infection control procedures and maintain work areas in each clinical room so that they are clean, safe and free from hazards reporting of any potential risks identified, including: o Hand washing o Universal hygiene procedures o Segregation and disposal of waste material o Decontamination of instruments and clinical equipment o Reporting and treatment of sharps injuries o Assist patients and colleagues in adopting sound infection control measures Know the general principles of first aid and resuscitation to be able to undertake initial actions as appropriate. Be aware of statutory child health procedures, and statutory local guidance and referral criteria. Know the health and safety policies and procedures within the workplace, including fire procedures, maintaining documentation, monitoring and maintaining of equipment and furniture within your area of responsibility.

Use the computer monitor safely. Be able to identify the risks to health of microbiological and chemical hazards within the working environment according to the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Information Process Record information and activities undertaken with patients and carers in an accurate and timely fashion using manual or computer systems as appropriate. Input accurate read codes about patients to ensure accurate retrieval
