Godalming, United Kingdom The National Autistic Society Full time

**Who we are**:
The National Autistic Society is the UK’s leading charity for autistic people. Since 1962, we’ve been transforming lives, changing attitudes and helping to create a society that works for autistic adults and children.

We transform lives by providing support, guidance and practical advice for the 700,000 autistic adults and children in the UK, as well as their three million family members and carers. Autistic people turn to us at key moments or challenging times in their lives, be it getting a diagnosis, going to school or finding work.

We change attitudes by improving public understanding of autism and the difficulties many autistic people face. We also work closely with businesses, local authorities and government to help them provide more autism-friendly spaces, deliver better services and improve laws.

We have come a long way but it is not good enough. There is still so much to do to increase opportunities, reduce social isolation and build a brighter future for people on the spectrum. With your help, we can make it happen.

**What we can offer you**:

- Pension scheme
- 25 days annual leave
- Excellent induction, training and development programme including training about autism and opportunities to attend our conferences
- Online staff discount scheme for a range of benefits (cycle to work scheme, season ticket loan)
- Access to a 24-hour employee assistance programme
- Access to the Headspace App

Do you believe that people on the autism spectrum should be understood, supported and appreciated? We do too and that’s why we would love to hear from someone like you.

Help make an Everyday Breakthrough happen by joining our team.
A breakthrough can seem like the smallest thing, but it can make the world of difference to someone on the autism spectrum. By becoming an Adult Social Group Lead Project Worker at The National Autistic Society you’ll help make Everyday Breakthroughs happen more often.

Help transform lives by joining our team.

You may have a personal connection, a desire to work with or real life experiences working with autistic people. If you share our values and are willing to make a difference to the lives of autistic people, we’d love to hear from you.

We offer a fantastic one year induction programme, continuing learning and development opportunities and the support you need to develop a career in social care. Along with a host of benefits - from shopping discounts to flexible working and a competitive pension scheme.
- Who we are looking for:
To be a successful member of our team you must have:

- Experience of working with people on the autism spectrum within a professional capacity
- Be able to work within a set schedule (Saturday once a month (15.15 - 17.15)
- Experience of working with people on the autism spectrum who also have mental health or learning difficulty needs or both
- Being able to provide group non therapeutic support to people on the autism spectrum
- Work in a person-centred approach adapting your skills to the needs of the individuals
- Be prepared to be supervised in a peer-setting
- Work flexibly outside usual office hours
- Be independent and able to work on your own and part of a team
- Have a good understanding of Safeguarding issues
