United Colleges Group are currently seeking to recruit a permanent Assistant Principal for A-Levels, Business and Science.

Who we are

United Colleges Group, formed in 2017, has continued to provide strong education and skills support to the 12,000 learners who we serve every year. We have 1,000 dedicated, skilled and enthusiastic staff who always put the needs of our students first and we are now looking for a permanent Assistant Principal for the Career Cluster of A-Levels, Business and Science to join our cohort of dedicated staff.

Based largely at our Paddington Green site, with additional Science Provision at our Willesden Campus the Assistant Principal for A Levels, Business and Science will lead the development of provision for both 16-18 year old and 19+ learners, meeting learners’ needs and those of our stakeholders.

About You

The successful applicant will be able to develop both individuals and teams you will play a key role in driving forward improvement across the career cluster, with a focus on quality enhancement and developing teaching, learning and assessment. You will be learner focused and able to lead your team to enhance the student experience, developing routes to employment and progression to further study.

The Assistant Principal for A-Levels, Business and Science will contribute to the strategic, operational management, development and performance of all aspects of College operations. You will deliver the implementation of the College Group’s quality improvement strategies for elements of the Education Inspection Framework and maintain a culture of continuous improvement through self-assessment and other quality initiatives through the College Group. The Assistant Principal for A-Levels, Business and Science will work collegiately and collaboratively with all staff to develop the College’s strategic and operational objectives into approved strategic plans and annual performance targets, to review the Curriculum Delivery Plan and related processes.

The successful applicant will be expected to lead, manage and develop a team of staff, with direct line management responsibility for 6 Curriculum Managers across the Career Cluster as agreed with the Group or Deputy Principal and will provide line management responsibilities for staff performance, identifying and facilitating any development needs or training requirements of the staff within your area.

The Assistant Principal for A-Levels, Business and Science will;
Provide outstanding leadership and management of the College Group’s curriculum quality assurance and enhancement and student support to ensure innovative and effective delivery of teaching, learning and assessment, securing outstanding performance across all College Group activities and provision.

Be educated to degree level or equivalent with a record of continuous professional development and will have a recognised teaching qualification

Have an excellent understanding of curriculum development and of achieving high standards of innovation and delivery in teaching and learning.

Have a strong understanding of the policy context for education with a firm grasp of such areas as the Skills and Post 16 Education Act, the skills agenda and employer engagement, the student learning experience, The Education Inspection Framework and Enhanced Inspections, and awareness and oversight of the variety of funding streams, including Free Courses for Jobs and Multiply

Have experience of initiating and managing significant cultural change with a track record of shaping a management team to achieve planned outcomes.

Have the ability to communicate and explain complex issues and reports in a way which can be clearly understood

Have the ability to present information confidently and to take feedback constructively

Be highly organised and have the ability to manage specialist, complex projects with excellent attention to detail

Have experience of motivating, developing and managing the performance of effective, multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites

Have the ability to communicate effectively with key senior stakeholders and mange and delegate workload of team effectively in a challenging environment and build positive internal and external relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
