The Role

Reporting to the Current Senior DBA and EMEA IT Applications Senior Manager, you will work in a small team of DBAs in the EMEA IT department. The role will work alongside Business Analysts, Developers, BAU specialists, Test engineers and business users. As a BAU focused DBA you will bring experience with data architecture and management to help develop and scale SQL databases based on business needs. Strong problem solving, team leading, and a pragmatic approach will be required.

Key Responsibilities
- Administering and managing the SQL Server Database estate, ensuring high availability of the database Infrastructure to minimize the duration and impact of any outages.
- Daily administration of scheduled SQL Server jobs identifying job failures and escalating to key stakeholders, informing relevant parties when issues occur due to failure.
- Installation and configuration of SQL Server following the corporate standard, including the testing and deployment of SQL Server service packs, cumulative updates, and hot fixes. Responsible for SQL Server backups across all environments, including the completion of regular test restores to validate the NRF backup procedures and the integrity of the SQL database backups.
- Deploy database releases to both the UAT and Production environments, whilst strictly adhering to change management control procedures.
- Work as part of a team to deliver projects to improve systems manageability & supportability (in house & 3rd party) within the Change Management delivery process.
- Participate in DR invocation and testing and provide maintenance and monitoring of DR / BCP readiness.
- Creation of technical documentation and facilitation of hand-over for development projects
- Escalate and manage incidents with suppliers - building effective service relations with suppliers.
- Monitor and maintain data processing and data feeds between systems.
- Participate in on-call support Rota.

Skills and Experience Required
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem solving & delivery skills coupled with a good understanding of ITIL support processes.
- Experience of implementing, customising, and supporting third party systems including managing suppliers to delivery.
- Extensive working knowledge with SQL server Admin experience (SQL 2012 or above).
- Proficient level SQL TSQL knowledge with best practices.
- Experience with performance tuning and optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Experience with SQL and Azure and the transfer of on-prem SQL estate to cloud hosted estate, including provisioning and capacity planning.
- Working knowledge of with SQL Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Reporting Services (SSRS).
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Proactive and Flexible, team player.
- Ability to organise and plan work independently.
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment Core technical skills to include T-SQL.
- Experience of supporting and enhancing software solutions in the legal sector.
- A proactive outlook to problem solving.

Desirable
- Numerate graduate preferred.
- Knowledge of Business Intelligence Tools such as Power BI.
- Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL server.
- Experience with Database monitoring tools, especially Redgate monitoring.
- Experience with Qualys, vulnerability monitoring.
- Experience using Git for maintaining code and scripts.
