Joining the Royal Bindery team, you’ll conserve manuscripts, rare books, archives and albums. Collaborating with curators and conservators across the Royal Collection, you’ll ensure the long-term preservation of the collections for future generations and advise on conservation-sound approaches to sharing them with wide audiences.

Reporting to the Head of the Royal Bindery, you’ll assist with the holistic strategy and professional development of the team as well as support its day to day running.

You’ll advise on the conservation, storage, handling and display of material in the Royal Library and Royal Archives, as well as on manuscripts, rare books, archives and albums across all Royal Collection sites.

You’ll research, publish, and deliver professional lectures on the preservation and conservation of the collections, and manage projects internally and externally.

You’ll engage with a variety of audiences through public talks and demonstrations both in person and via social media.
- About youWith a post-graduate qualification in Paper and Book Conservation (or equivalent experience), and substantial practical experience in the conservation of bound manuscripts, rare books, archival documents and albums as well as the structures, materials and styles of historic bindings, you’ll be able to hit the ground running.

You’ll also be familiar with the conservation issues and challenges of working with rare books and manuscripts in historic buildings.

Being highly organised, with good IT skills, you’ll be an effective communicator, able to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Logical and systematic in your approach, you're a good problem solver, able to work through challenges and find solutions in your daily role.
