Household / Department- Master of the Household’s Office- Section / Branch- Craft- Location- Windsor Castle- Contract/recruitment type- Permanent- Starting salary- £32,000 - £35,000- Hours of work- 37.5 hours per week- About the roleBy joining a team of talented conservation and restoration specialists, you'll be part of a team conserving giltwood furniture to the highest standard as part of the Buckingham Palace Reservicing Programme.

Reporting to the Senior Gilding Conservator you will be based at our workshops in Windsor. With this role you will have the opportunity to work across a number of our sites including Buckingham Palace as your transport items and continue to preserve and restore them to be enjoyed by generations to come.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Focused on gilding conservation and restoration, working on individual items, as well as suites of furniture from the historic interiors from a range of Royal Residencies.
- Survey and evaluate the condition of items within the collection, proposing conservation methods and that will both preserve and protect them.
- Maintain and upkeep specialist tools and equipment.
- Broaden and invest in developing your practical skills and share knowledge with colleagues.
- About you**Essential Criteria**
- experience in the conservation and restoration of giltwood, ideally giltwood furniture,
- Able to confidently evaluate items and propose conservation treatments that are practical and in line with requirements.
- exceptional eye for detail with the ability to accurately restore items correctly and historically accurately using traditional gilding techniques
- Organisation and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple, and often conflicting deadlines
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work alongside people at all levels.
- Problem solving skills and initiative to assess situations, and make decisions when needed.
- Experience working with relevant IT programmes
