Data Protection Officer

Overview:
We are looking for a proactive Data Protection Officer to lead and deliver our data protection values by integrating privacy into our culture and ensuring that required standards and best practice are preserved. You will have a crucial role in ensuring that the data protection rights of our customers and colleagues are maintained and aligned to regulatory requirements.

**The role**:
- Provide support to the business with the completion, delivery and overall management of Data Protection Impact Assessments
- Support the business with the ongoing management of their Registers of Processing Activities
- Produce, manage and deliver relevant information in respect of Data Protection related topics to relevant committees and leaders
- Produce, manage and deliver Data Subject Access Requests as required
- Identify, develop and manage key data protection objectives, policies and processes in line with regulatory requirements and developing business strategy
- Play a critical role in the identification, monitoring and mitigation of data protection risks across the business
- Undertake business reviews to determine compliance with data protection regulations, data security and other related areas, recommending process improvements
- Provide timely information to the business relating to updates, or changes to, applicable Data Protection legislation and/or regulator guidance, including advising the business on the anticipated impact
- Act as a key point of contact with the Regulator and advising on any complaints or queries raised by Data Subjects
- Preparing and delivering data protection training where required
- Reviewing third party data processing agreements
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to co-ordinate Solus’ third party supplier assurance process
- Understand, anticipate, and deliver customer (internal and external) needs whilst building effective relationships
- Positively respond to both internal and external customers through effective communication and personal accessibility
- Understand procedures and processes and operate them to the required standard encouraging best practice
- Provide knowledge and understanding to coach and support others within the team
- Ability to actively drive improvement and perform tasks with an understanding of business requirements
- Convey company messages and ideas clearly and openly, involving people in decisions, and providing constructive feedback
- Any other tasks deemed required within a similar remit
Qualifications:
**Desirable qualifications and experience***:
- Degree or equivalent work experience in a DPM/DPO role
- Good PC skills at intermediate level with experience working in Word/Excel/Outlook- 6 months’ experience in a similar role beneficial- A leader in UK data protection laws and practices- Experience in engaging with non-finance colleagues and providing information to support senior stakeholders- Demonstrable level of business acumen, with focus on improvement
- National travel required
