DHL, award winning leading supply chain business is seeking a **Data Protection Officer **to play a vital role coordinating our daily logistics requirements.

The role of the Data Protection Officer UK&I is accountable for all GDPR requirements for the region, and the handling and protection of employee and customer personal data assets in line with legal and regulatory compliance requirement under the UK Data Protection Act 2018, ROI Data protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR. Ensuring that UK&I is compliant with DHL Group personal data processing corporate guidelines, industry best practice and the appropriate legislation.

You will be responsible for regulations related to GDPR; Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003; Caldicott medical data and similar requirements. With the main aim to protect the company's and customers' information assets and reputation in line with legal requirements and contractual arrangements in place with DHL customers.

**WHAT DOES THE ROLE ENTAIL?**
- Ensuring compliance with GDPR, UK Data Protection Act 2018 and ROI Data Protection Act 2018. Ensure data protection, privacy and legal obligations are on board's agenda
- Relevant level of autonomy to allow delivery of role including reporting to regulatory authority in line with GDPR Article 39.
- Ensure compliance framework generates adequate, suitable, and accurate records to meet requirements of legislation. Monitor compliance with regulation and assign remediation.
- Implementation of a Data Protection Management System including local processes, procedures, training, and guidance to ensure compliance of the region with applicable Data Protection related legislation.
- Responsible for developing a compliant culture within the region and rolling out a data protection compliance framework for UKI in conjunction with the Global Data Protection Management System; promoting awareness on data protection across the region.
- Ensuring region wide focus on appropriate handling and protection of employee & customer personal data.
- Ensuring that controller/processor and employees understand obligations in processing personal data and provide advice on meeting those obligations.
- Act as the single point of contact for the UK&I answering data protection questions and queries and coordinating with country regulators on behalf of DHL in line with regulations.
- Maintaining a register of data processing operations and suitable reports to prove compliance.
- Coordinating Data Privacy Impact Assessments to ensure that high risk processing is identified and mitigated in key business process steps to minimise the risk to DHL.
- Managing the handling, investigation and resolution of data breaches and incidents.
- Overseeing the handling of Data Subject requests for DHL employees and customer related personal data
- Directing data protection due diligence and audit of third-party providers
- Designing and overseeing data protection training across the region to all employees at appropriate level
- Working with DHL Supply Chain customers in identifying, resolving actual/potential data protection issues and handling audit requirements
- Provide status reporting for data protection compliance, resource consumption, residual risks and conducting data protection related audits.
- Coordinating and supporting Data Protection Champions within the region

**WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU?**
- 5+ year's working in data protection compliance related work with experience of working in a Corporate Environment.
- 2+ years' relevant industry experience and working in global corporation (desirable).
- Certification in data protection such as the IAPP CIPP/E and/or CIPM Certifications or equivalent.
- Risk management and/or Information Security related Certification (ITIL, CIM Dip, M_o_R Practitioner, CISSP, CISM, and/or CISA) is desirable.
- Very good knowledge of UK Data Protection Act 2018 and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) regulations especially legal, technical, and organisational frameworks
- Practical implementation experience in a Data Protection or similar compliance-based role.
- Experience of crisis management and guiding response to significant data incidents.
- Experience in delivering IT risk management improvement programs.
- Working knowledge of Data Protection implementations in different countries.
- Technical knowledge and awareness of current data management and communications technologies.
- Effective senior stakeholder management.
- Commercial orientation and customer focus.
- Ability to influence and work with others outside of direct authority. Have the ability to manage upwards.
- A Self-starter, motivated with a strong personality and impact.
- Demonstrate “Can Do”, “Passion” and “Right First Time” behavioural attributes.
