We are seeking an Assistant Director of Finance who will play a proactive role, working with our Transformation team and a range of senior leaders across the organisation to drive sustainable improvements as we look to recover our elective backlog, improve patient care and address the significant productivity challenge that we are currently facing as an NHS.

We are looking for an inclusive leader who will engage colleagues in the delivery of our vision and empower them to take part in the leadership and wider development of our Trust. You will bring a strong track record of leadership at a senior level.

The primary purpose of this role is to lead on the delivery of the Trust’s productivity and financial savings challenge, which is significant in nature.

You will play a key role in the communication of the financial agenda working closely with the Associate Director of Transformation and Divisional Leadership Teams. You will contribute towards the Trust’s improvement plan and Trust-wide change projects.

You will be a key member of the senior finance team, supporting the Trust to deliver its objectives to achieve financial sustainability, and will work with the Director of Finance to provide leadership across the Operational Finance Team. - As part of the Senior Finance team, contribute to the effective leadership and strategic development of the department to ensure the provision of a high-quality service.
- Work with the business intelligence team and Divisional leadership to support and drive productivity improvement and convey the linkages with workforce growth, service change and quality improvements.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and work with the right people in the organisation to explore them, ensuring change is implemented where it is right / safe to do so.
- Support the development of a financially sustainable culture - primarily within the clinical Divisions but in every area of the Trust - working with key stakeholders and highlighting any skills gaps.
- The post holder will lead development of the value for money and comprehensive investment appraisal models that are required for all external business cases.
- Liaise with other key stakeholders including procurement, financial services and financial management teams in regard to all major capital and lease projects to ensure future operational planning is robust and timely.
- Support the Executive Director of Finance with the review of Corporate and Support service provision across the Derbyshire ICB, working with the Director of Operational Finance to review saving opportunities and develop costing models.
