We are looking to appoint a qualified and experienced Adult Mental Health Practitioner. The role will be to provide trauma informed interventions to meet the mental health and emotional needs of refugee families who are being resettled across Warwickshire.

The post holder will be joining a friendly and supportive team within migrant mental health, who will work closely with key partners across statutory and 3rdsector services, such as Coventry Refugee and Migrant Centre, Citizens Advice and Migration Team within Warwickshire County Council.

The clinical specialist will offer outreach work to families with specific emphasis on those adults, children and young people who require mental health and emotional wellbeing support. You will be required to meet families within their home or clinical environment to carry out an assessment of need. The team will work together as an MDT to be able to provide timely response to individuals who require intervention.

The post holder will be required to work with colleagues within adult mental health services and coordinate any referrals needed into these services. They will also be expected to provide advice, consultation and training to other professionals and key partners.

Regular supervision and relevant additional training will be provided by the service.

Support families in the transition between, childhood, adolescence and adulthood which may be further impacted by the displacement and transition to a new country and culture.

Screening/Assessment of individuals including children which can take place in the home or clinical setting.

Liaise with teams and colleagues within children’s and adult mental health to facilitate effective referrals for further specialist assessments if required.

Support war/torture training to frontline staff e.g. at CAB, social workersdealing with resettled families, unaccompanied minors and asylum seekers

Act as a point of contact to colleagues within mental health services who are concerned about an individual’s additional needs and vulnerabilities

Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding and protection issues with vulnerable clients, including children and vulnerable adults

Undertake direct specialist clinical work.

To work with clinical staff to facilitate the transition to adult services for young people requiring on-going mental health or learning disability health support.

To put the voice of the (service user) at the core of the work to ensure their wishes and feelings are understood and conveyed.

To collect and analyse data regarding referrals and outcomes in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the post.

**Applicant must have**:
A qualification at degree level or equivalent and registration with relevant professional body with a core profession (e.g. clinical/counselling psychology, psychotherapy, systemic family psychotherapy, social work, nursing, occupational therapy, Arts)

A post-graduate qualification in a therapeutic model.

Experience of working clinically with adults who have experienced mental health issues/trauma and risk in clinical setting’s;
Be confident to work independently both in community clinic based and outreach environment’s;
Experience of working with refugees is highly desirable but not essential. However an enthusiasm for making a difference in this area is crucial.
