We are the trauma coordinator team based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and we have a rare substantive full time post opening. Our main priority is to find a nurse with the right values, behaviours and attitudes which match our own. We are seeking to recruit individuals with a positive outlook and who continually aspire to promote quality and excellence in their work.

The position would ideally suit someone with a good orthopaedic nursing background who would like an opportunity to increase their clinical knowledge base and work at a senior level within the speciality - we are happy to work with you to develop your skills and help you succeed.

Our priorities are to establish and maintain effective communication with patients, carers and families to ensure they are given consistent advice and guidance on their complex orthopaedic treatment pathways. We work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and provide leadership when required to coordinate and progress the clinically agreed treatment pathways for each patient. You will also be expected to promote and lead on the Trusts’ harm free care agenda, working within the speciality at all levels to provide supervision and guidance.

The trauma coordinator will work as part of the trauma co-ordinator team as directed by the Head of Nursing. The focus of the role is to coordinate and plan the flows of trauma patients through the service.

The trauma coordinator will support and empower all health care workers and patients by managing the trauma flows and providing education, advice and clinical expertise.

The trauma coordinator will forge excellent working relationships with A&E, Fracture Clinic, all orthopaedics wards at the Royal Sussex County Hospital and Princess Royal Hospital, The Sussex Orthopaedic Treatment Centre, all Theatre departments where orthopaedic surgery is undertaken.

The post holder will actively improve and enhance interdepartmental communication to ensure patients are treated in a timely manner according to their agreed clinical priority.
