The Department is one of the largest centres for the treatment of haematological malignancies in the UK with a strong reputation for clinical trials and clinical research. This is an ideal opportunity for an ambitious and confident doctor keen to further develop clinical, research and leadership skills in a dynamic inclusive team.
**Detailed job description and main responsibilities**:
The appointee will be expected to fulfil the following duties within the agreed Job Plan. The post-holders will join a team of 11 other Consultants offering a full haematological malignancy service and will have a special interest in CLL and/or Myeloma. The appointee will join in the attending rota with Dr Martinez-Calle (CLL) and Drs Frances Wadelin, Dean Smith and Kandeepan Saravanamuttu (Myeloma). The appointee and will provide weekly acute (haemato)-oncology (AOS) service cover on the specialist receiving ward unit and provide advice to primary care through the GP advice and guidance service. The appointee will actively contribute to the weekly CLL and Myeloma MDTs.

- Full and specialist registration (and with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview)
- Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview
- Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT
**Professional qualifications**:

- FRCPath or evidence of equivalent qualification MRCP or evidence of equivalent qualification

- Higher professional degree
**Clinical skills and experience**:
**Essential criteria**:
- Experience in management of myeloma and CLL
- Able to communicate effectively and appropriately with patients, their families and other health professionals
**Desirable criteria**:
- Specific training in communication skills
**Teaching, audit and research**:
**Essential criteria**:
- Evidence of participation in Clinical Audit.
- Evidence of ability to teach and support junior staff effectively. GCP training
**Desirable criteria**:
- Original Research Publications
- Experience of clinical trials in haematology

**Salary**: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
