**Production and Stores Quality Assistant**

Stoane Lighting is looking for a full time Production and Stores Quality Assistantto work in our busy manufacturing facility located in Loanhead, EH20. Working hours are 09:00 - 17:00, Monday - Friday.

This role will involve working in two different but strongly connected departments. Below describes both departments and a list of core tasks.

**Production (mornings)**

Due to the diversity and often bespoke nature of our product, assembly bears little resemblance to assembly lines in a large automotive or electronics company. Thanks to that varied environment and opportunities to work in our workshop, each position in the company is unique allowing for progression in different directions throughout the organisation. The products and company are constantly evolving, and we very much believe in encouraging staff to think for themselves and to contribute by means of ideas as well as hard work.

**Purchasing (afternoons)**

The Purchasing and Finishing department’s mission is to deliver components of high quality, to spec, to the Production teams, so that they can finish, test and deliver a finished product to our customer in full, on time.

In addition to this the Purchasing department is expected to provide support for quotations, costing, spec info and logistics to all the departments within Stoane Lighting. In addition, our values ensure that we offer the highest standard of service to our colleagues and customers by providing an accurate and timely service to our end user and constantly strive to strategically improve our processes.
- General assembly of finished components
- Soldering and minor electronics assembly
- Light use of workshop machinery to manufacture small batch components
- Checking of sub-contracted components against their engineering drawing
- Checking deliveries and stocking of goods within agreed timeframes
- Raising and resolving issues with delivery discrepancies and despatching returns
- Maintenance of the warehouse stock system, including keeping aisles, goods in areas and desks clean and tidy
- Provide basic supplier and purchasing information to departments as required
- Provide basic cover for other team members in their absence
- Support picking components with the production teams
- Understanding of basic procurement legislation including RoHS and COSHH regulations
- Safe handling procedures of goods, lifting various weights and sizes of boxes

**Person Specification**

**Essential**
- Strong attention to detail
- Computer skills; Microsoft Office and ERP systems (training will be provided)
- An enthusiasm for design and engineering
- Excellent communication skills
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- Proactive and organised with an ability to prioritise workload in a busy, high-pressured environment
- An ability to work in a logical and structured manner, keeping excellent records
- A desire to learn new skills
- Organised and methodical
- Flexible “can do” attitude
- Reliable and trustworthy

**Desirable**
- Strong electrical knowledge
- Ability to read engineering drawings
- Practical hands-on skills (i.e., do you make or fix things yourself as a hobby?)
- 2D & 3D AutoCAD or Inventor
- Machine skills: manual mills, lathes and various saws (any experience)
- A full clean driving licence
- A desire to take ownership of tasks, master core role and look to how the role can be grown and aspects of the department improved accordingly.
