Job Advert Description

This is an outstanding opportunity to join the Finance and Resources team at North Wales Police as the Evidence and Property Team Leader you’ll be joining on a Permanent contract within an organisation that will truly support your success in the workplace.

You will support and assist the Evidence & Property Manager in the effective and efficient management of all the process undertaken by the department in providing the organisation and both internal and external customers with an appropriate level of service.

As part of your role you will ensure that the lifecycle of all evidence and property whilst it is in the custody of the organisation is managed in a manner that retains its integrity in a secure and transparent process in accordance with the highest national standards and Waste Management guidelines.

What does the Evidence and Property Team Leader role entail?

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assist the Manager in organising the workload of the Evidence & Property clerks across the force area, including both the Archive & Area Property offices
- Provide first the line manager provision to all the staff in the Business Area, including the management of PDR/CPD requirements and other HR functionality, including the authorisation of overtime.
- Communicate effectively with other members of the team to identify improvement opportunities and share best practice. To train and develop the team ensuring they have the relevant skills and experience, through coaching, mentoring and quality checking their work.
- To supervise either directly or indirectly the safe and secure disposal of all evidence & property when it reaches the end of its lifecycle in the organisation in accordance with the appropriate, legislation, guidance or policy.
- To provide assistance and guidance to internal and external customers which promotes the work of the business area and assists with the adherence to the existing protocols and processes, which may include correct packaging and storage advice of items that enter the business process.
- To provide the Manager with the appropriate data in a timely fashion in respect of the management of evidence and property held across the force, or temporarily retained elsewhere for a ‘policing purpose’ or otherwise. This will include details of cash handling and banking and the destruction and/or disposal of all items.
- Undertake the role of Single Point of Contact (SPoC) in respect of counterfeit and mutilated currency with the Bank of England & National Crime Agency.
- Promote the appropriate and effective use of the Niche RMS system to support the management of evidence and property processed in the organisation and within the parameters of the business area’s responsibility.
- Oversee the ordering and monitoring of all consumables required to assist and support the effective and efficient workplace processes and the ongoing management of items entering the business area.
- Attend and participate in all relevant meetings, whether local, regional or national at the behest of the Manager and deputising for the Manager in their absence.
- Undertake training in respect of manual handling and the operation of any machinery, or tools reasonably required to carry out the role in a safe, lawful and appropriate manner.
- To ensure that all IT systems are appropriately employed in the course of the management of evidence and property within the organisation by its staff n support of the requirements of the business area

What will I need to be considered for the Evidence and Property Team Leader role?
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and relate to people at all levels both internally and externally.
- The ability to assimilate, interpret and evaluate statistical and written information.
- Excellent organisational skills, together with the ability to prioritise, meet specific deadlines and work on their own initiative.
- Evidence of an ability to generate and implement innovative solutions to improve business processes and undertake continuous improvements.
- The post will be peripatetic; with the post holder required to travel to locations across the force area in furtherance of the business and will include the necessity to drive unmarked police vehicles.
- A full and valid driving licence will be required to undertake the role.
