We currently have a vacancy for a Mental Health Practitioner to work within our Telford Mental Health Support Team, which covers a number of schools in South Telford. The role will appeal to qualified Mental Health Nurses, Children's Wellbeing Practitioners, Education Mental Health Practitioners and Social Workers, with post qualifying experience of delivering evidence based interventions to children and young people.

With 1 in 6 school children having a mental health problem the role delivers on the proposals outlined in the2017 Government Green Paper ‘Transforming Children & Young People’s Mental Health’ providing early intervention support and promoting whole school approaches to mental health wellbeing.

You will also hold a caseload, undertaking assessments and offering brief evidence based interventions to pupils and students, presented with mild to moderate mental health presentations. This will include one to one support and group work. You will work collaboratively with schools, young people and their families and offer advice, consultation and training to staff within schools and other agencies where appropriate.

There is scope for creativity to promote mental health provision within school settings and opportunities for co-production with young people and parents.

The Mental Health Support Teams are designed to help meet the mental health needs of children and young people by providing mental health support in educational setting and supports the 'getting advice and signposting' and 'getting help’ aspect of the Thrive model within the BeeU Service.

The Bee U service is a partnership between Midland Partnership Foundation Trust, The Children’s Society, Kooth and Healios. We all work together in multi-disciplinary teams in the interests of children and young people across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.

We successfully implemented the Mental Health Support Teams in 2020 and currently have 3 teams serving a number of schools within Telford & Wrekin and Shropshire, with another team launching in 2023. We offer a supportive and friendly team environment, valuing each others contribution.
