An Exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join the team as a locality lead for South East Oxfordshire and Pathway lead. You will work alongside 6 locality leads to clinical leads on service transformation projects. You will hold a clinical caseload of children with complex communication needs within special schools, preschool settings and mainstream schools.

You will lead a team delivering evidence-based assessment and intervention working collaboratively with the SLT Professional Lead and the SLT Leadership Team; Care Aims (Kate Malcomess) and Therapy Outcome Measures (TOM’s) underpin the Service Model.

In partnership with the Professional Lead, you will lead the delivery of the commissioned Service for children and young people who meet the access criteria in Oxfordshire in one of the six defined localities. Your role will include both leadership and clinical work in a locality and you will have responsibility for a countywide portfolio to ensure equity of access to the SLT Service offer. You will actively manage waiting lists and caseloads in partnership with the Professional Lead and other Specialist Team Leads and implement and evaluate creative initiatives and therapeutic interventions.

You will line manage staff in this locality and be involved in supervision and support for Band 6 SLT’s, Band 5’s including NQP’s and SLT TI’s, apprentices and students.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Oxfordshire Children’s Integrated Therapy Service is made up of Children’s Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, profession specific Therapy Instructors, Integrated Therapy Assistant Practitioners and an Administrative Team. We are jointly commissioned by the ICB and Oxfordshire County Council. The Service is led by Operational Managers and Professional Leads for each Therapy.

The SLT team is made up of Band 5 and 6 Therapists, Technical Assistants, Apprentices, and both Specialist Team Leads and Specialist Clinical Leads (Band 7). We provide Speech and Language Therapy for children and young people aged 0 - 19 years across Oxfordshire in a range of settings. The Service delivery model is based on six Clinical Pathways and underpinned by the current evidence base.

As a Specialist Team Lead, you will join the Children’s Integrated Therapy (CIT) Leadership Team which includes Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists.

Therapy teams have strong links with education colleagues, paediatricians, and AHP’s across Oxford Health Trust.

We offer a comprehensive induction programme, ongoing supervision and appraisal with development reviews from experienced specialist staff, regular in house training as well as opportunities for involvement in Service Development.
