**What will the apprentice be doing?**

The practice is offering a varied role to support the learning and development of its medical administrator which will include a cross section of the areas of administration at the practice.
- Answer the general enquiries of patients and direct them to the appropriate clinician or service
- Make appropriate appointments over the telephone or face-to-face,
- Take requests for repeat prescriptions
- Open / stamp / distribute post received from external sources
- Liaise with other health and social care services as necessary.
- Distribution of internal / external post received
- Contribute towards and running of immunisation clinics
- Maintain adequate stock of health-related stationery.
- Scanning / manual entry of all relevant correspondence onto patients’ computer held records.
- Entry onto computer of new patient medical records received into Ironopolis.
- Removal and return of medical records of patients leaving Ironopolis
- Batching and recording of FP10s.
- Processing repeat prescriptions (as surgery protocol) and forwarding to doctors for signatures.
- Informing Patients of any repeat tests or necessary appointments as requested by the doctors.
- Responsibility for filing and extracting records, hospital letters and laboratory results to patient’s computer records / medical records as necessary.
- Processing new patient registration data onto computer and updating attached staff of their registration.
- Enter out-of-hours information onto patient computer held records and update relevant staff as required.

The successful apprentice will be enrolled on the Business Admin apprenticeship level 3 with PMA Ltd.

**Working week**

Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week between business hours of 8am-6.30pm.
