**Job Title**:New Scotland Yard Security Officer**

**Salary: The starting salary is £34,624.50, which includes allowances totalling £2,841 and a 12.5% shift disturbance allowance.**

**The salary is broken down as £28,252 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £30,222. Plus, a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000, as well as a 12.5% shift disturbance allowance.**

**Location**: Westminster**

Security of New Scotland Yard is a function undertaken by the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command (PaDP).

The role holder will join a team of security officers providing front of house physical security duties including access control visitor search and reception security. As a uniformed front of house security guard, you will regularly deal with incidents outside and some of these will involve confrontation with difficult and sometimes hostile people. You will need to be reliable, discrete and trustworthy with the ability to communicate professionally and diplomatically at all levels within the organisation as well as an ability to remain calm in sometimes stressful situations.

**Key Tasks**
- Control Access to the Main entrance ensuring only authorized staff and visitors gain access.
- Provide a professional search regime for visitors searching people and property.
- Provide support and facilitate safe movement in the event of an evacuation.
- Ensure compliance with all internal security procedures.
- Working with police Officer colleagues to maintain the safe and secure operation of New Scotland Yard

**Essential Criteria**
- Excellent Communication and time management skills
- An ability to remain calm and professional in fast moving and sometimes stressful situations.
- A willingness to be trained in electronic and other protective security equipment such as Rapiscan and similar equipment.
- A willingness to work shifts both early and late between the hours 0700-2000hrs (for which a shift disturbance payment is provided)
