In collaboration with the Directors and the academic, research or clinical teams, the post holder will plan, co-ordinate and monitor aspects of the training activity of the doctoral course and to carry primary responsibility for the planning, co-ordination and monitoring of aspects of placements, research or academic components related to working with people with intellectual disabilities for doctoral students..

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning, organising and coordinating key aspects of the DClinPsych Training Programme
- To plan, co-ordinate or monitor aspects of the academic, clinical and/or research activity of the doctoral course in specialist fields; to be responsible for aspects of the planning, coordination and monitoring of both the academic syllabus related to clinical psychology generally and where appropriate in the post-holders specialist field, and other aspects of the development of doctoral students. This involves the short-term as well as long-term strategic planning of aspects of the programme, including ensuring that the work carried out meets the British Psychological Society accreditation criteria, HCPC requirements, coordinating both the internal and external contributors.
- To assist with the development of the programme to enable trainees to gain the relevant accreditation both as cognitive behavioural therapists (with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy) and as systemic practitioners (with the Association of Family Therapy) and also to gather experience as relevant which can reduce the requirements for completing the BristolPost Graduate Diploma in Theoretical and Practical Neuropsychology (PGDTPN)
- To take responsibility for organising, implementing and reviewing academic, clinical or research related aspects of the programme including in the post holder’s specialist area. This may include in relation to academic aspects, reviewing teaching feedback and liaising with presenters, liaising with administrative staff to ensure teaching invites are sent out in a timely fashion relevant documentation is updated, and similarly with research activities.
- To take responsibility for the planning, submission and assessment of trainees’ submissions including reading plans and drafts as necessary.
- To provide highly specialist advice to trainees and supervisors on suitable topics for course work. This will include supervision of the development of research proposals and projects and highly specialist advice on reports of clinical activity and research projects, systematic reviews, a consultancy project and doctoral research projects.
- To provide doctoral clinical psychology trainees with highly specialist advice on the programme requirements.
- To liaise effectively with the Director, Clinical and Academic Directors, Senior Research Tutors, research supervisors, clinical placement supervisors, special interest groups, clinical tutors, academic lecturers, service users and carers, and the Institute administrative staff.
- To take the lead in or assist with developing a long-term strategy to adjust agreed aspects of the programme in relation to new developments and programme requirements. This may include teaching specialist skills or facilitating such teaching, drawing on advanced theoretical and practical knowledge in clinical and research areas.
