**The post: Full time (40hours per week), Permanent, All year round**

**Salary Scale/Band: 3A - £10.30 to £10.74 per hour**

**Hygiene and Cleaning**

1. Supervise, oversee, and allocate the work of the cleaning team to ensure that school buildings, fabrics and furnishings are cleaned to the approved cleaning standard/specification.

2. Monitor the standard of cleaning undertaken on the premises and complete the associated documentation (cleaning audits/pre-start up checks).

3. Respond to ad-hoc requests from users or user groups to alter the cleaning schedule to accommodate special activities or events.

4. Undertake emergency cleaning duties as required within the whole premises including environs and grounds, for example removal of graffiti and accidental spillages.

5. Ensure that an adequate supply of equipment and consumables are available on site. Ensure the appropriate use and storage, and that appropriate safe systems of work are in operation.

6. Ensure that playgrounds/playing fields, hard standing areas and steps are clean and tidy.

7. Carry out litter picks after breaks and at the start and finish of the day. This activity is not to be limited to the main playground. Areas between buildings and immediately surround the School

Estates are included.

8. Present refuse bins for collection at the appropriate times

**School Security**

9. Adhere to opening/closing protocols.

10. Be responsible for the security and safety of the School premises and their contents. This includes operating the fire and intruder alarms, undertaking keyholder responsibilities and related duties.

11. Highlight, make secure and/or report Security risks identified. Report any evidenced or witnessed unauthorised entry to the estate.

12. Respond to alarm activations, carry an on-call phone, receiving and replying to calls on a rotational basis.

13. Carry out winter checks during school’s festive period closure (incorporating School safety checks).

**School Safety and Comfort**

14. Ensure that all premises within your control have adequate levels of lighting and heating, undertake maintenance and operation of the associated plant and equipment.

15. Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and codes of practice. These include, however, are not limited to weekly fire alarm tests, weekly fire doors and fire extinguisher checks, monthly emergency lighting tests, and regular flushing of little-used water outlets.

16. Conduct routine School Health and Safety Inspections and audits, ensure that the appropriate documentation is completed accurately and as per schedule.

17. Highlight, make safe or report any Health and Safety issues.

**Approach to work**

18. Ability and confidence to drive and/or supervise children/pupils between School sites and to planned events.

19. Work with independence of action to ensure duties are completed in a proactive, timely and safe manner.

20. Comfortable to follow instruction, work within procedure, and to use on own positive initiative.

21. Ability to work frequently with various groups throughout the School Community, including; colleagues, pupils, parents and suppliers.

**Maintenance and upkeep**

22. Undertake School porterage and facilities maintenance duties, and any other duties arising from and associated with the use of the premises.

23. Work with Facilities and Operations Administrator to monitor Facilities Management (FM) helpdesk and act as the initial point of contact for complaints, conducting preliminary inspections and liaising with the relevant contractors/Facilities and Operations Supervisor.

24. On your own initiative, and/or as directed carry out minor repairs and maintenance of fixtures, furniture and equipment.

25. Paint and decorate areas in line with the School maintenance plan

26. Move school furniture, sports, musical equipment, and any other equipment as and when required. Set halls for assemblies, examinations, and any other events.

27. Maintain grounds, access, and egress to an acceptable standard. This may include grass/hedge/bush trimming/cutting, weed killing and pitch marking for example.

28. Inspect and maintain tools and equipment required to complete Facilities and Cleaning roles.

**Liaise with external partners and suppliers**

29. Meet and act as escort for contractors while on site. Ensure authorised access only by following site security policies and procedures.

30. Demonstrate good energy conservation by switching out all lights and ensuring taps are off and ensure the area is secure by closing all windows and doors on completion of your duties.

Challenge are escalate examples of poor practice.

31. Be in attendance during School Functions and extra-curricular activities as required. Such duties might require attendance during evening hours and at weekends.
