**The Role**

**Job Purpose**:
The Sports Centre Operative will act as the primary contact for users of Mayfield Sports Centre at the weekend and one evening per week.

**Key Outputs & Responsibilities**:
**Customer Service**

1. Act as primary contact for users of the centre’s facilities. Answering questions regarding facilities use and availability.

2. Ensure any payments due for hires are processed as per instructions.

3. Promote additional use and return visits from users. Taking note of any potential booking opportunities for discussion with the Facilities & Operations Administrator.

4. Process online and telephone booking requests using JotForm & Google Calendar as per instructions.

5. Support the users experience with a friendly, helpful manner.

6. Observe patterns of use and satisfaction levels of users for feedback to the Facilities & Operations Administrator for discussion of how service levels may be improved.

7. Monitor hired facilities safe use. Note any no-shows and ensure all users match the schedule of use as per the centre’s calendar.

**Marketing**

8. Gather intelligence regarding sporting / community hires regarding their activities, membership etc. Promote use of centre’s social media presence and website to support their organisation.

9. Assist the Facilities & Operations Administrator with direct marketing to organisations who currently do not use the centre.

10. Where appropriate create suitable online content for the centre’s social media and website in collaboration with the school’s marketing team.

**Hygiene and Cleaning**

11. Respond to ad-hoc requests from users or user groups to accommodate special activities or events.

12. Undertake emergency cleaning duties as required within the whole premises including environs and grounds, for example accidental spillages.

13. Ensure that an adequate supply of equipment and consumables are available on site. Ensure the appropriate use and storage, and that appropriate safe systems of work are in operation.

14. Ensure that playing fields, hard standing areas, and steps are clean and tidy.

15. Carry out litter picks when required. Ensuring public areas are kept at a high standard of presentation.

**Sports Centre Security**

16. Adhere to opening/closing protocols.

17. Be responsible for the security and safety of the Sports Centre Complex and its and their contents. This includes operating the fire and intruder alarms, undertaking keyholder responsibilities and related duties.

18. Highlight, make secure and/or report Security risks identified. Report any evidenced or witnessed unauthorised entry to the estate.

19. Respond to alarm activations, carry an on-call phone, receiving and replying to calls on a rotational basis.

**Sports Centre Safety and Comfort**

20. Ensure that all premises within your control have adequate levels of lighting and heating.

21. Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and codes of practice.

22. Assist with routine School Health and Safety Inspections and audits, ensure that the appropriate documentation is completed accurately and as per schedule.

23. Highlight, make safe or report any Health and Safety issues.

24. Work with independence of action to ensure duties are completed in a proactive, timely and safe manner.

25. Comfortable to follow instruction, work within procedure, and to use on own positive initiative.

26. Ability to work frequently with various groups throughout the School Community, including colleagues, pupils, parents, and members of the public.

**Maintenance and upkeep**

27. Undertake any other duties arising from and associated with the use of the premises.

28. Move centre furniture, sports, and any other equipment as and when required. Set up centres hired facilities for use by hirers.

29. Inspect and report damage to sports equipment using FM Helpdesk. Highlight any potential Health & Safety dangers resulting from damage or misuse to Supervisory Staff.

30. Liaise with external partners and suppliers when required.

31. Meet and act as escort for contractors while on site. Ensure authorised access only by following site security policies and procedures.

32. Demonstrate good energy conservation by switching out all lights and ensuring taps are off and ensure the area is secure by closing all windows and doors on completion of your duties. Challenge and escalate examples of poor practice.

33. Be in attendance during School Functions and extra-curricular activities as required.
