Reporting to the Clinical Board Director, the**Director of Operations** will be responsible for the provision of strategic leadership to ensure the effective and efficient management of all services within the responsibility and accountabilityof the Clinical Board.

**Client Details**

You will join, a large NHS body based in South Wales, Cardiff area on an initial 6-month contract.

**Description**

Reporting to the Clinical Board Director, the Director of Operations will be responsible for the provision of strategic leadership to ensure the effective and efficient management of all services within the responsibility and accountability of the ClinicalBoard.

In particular, you will have unambiguous accountability to ensure effective operational management of all available resources; delivery of efficient services' within budget (Income and Expenditure) within the scope of the Clinical Board; responsibility andaccountability for the provision of high quality safe services, excellence in education and world class research, in accordance with the approved strategic direction and policy of the Health Board, and that financial and clinical governance processes and practicesare of the highest order.

The Director of Operations will work in partnership with the Clinical Board Director to ensure full engagement of all staff in the Clinical Board in the delivery of the Clinical Board/Health Board strategies.

They will take a lead on cross-organisation projects and change initiatives.

**Profile**
- In depth professional knowledge of General Management, Financial Management, Business Planning, Clinical Strategies and Performance Management acquired through training
- Evidence of continued managerial professional development including regular attendance on internal and external study programmes
- Extensive in depth knowledge and understanding of a range of issues across the NHS and NHS patient agenda
- Experience of leading teams, supporting and developing staff members, and actively managing poor performance in accordance with the values of the Healthboard
- Experience of directly managing staff and non-pay budgets
- Experience of providing services to a high quality with restricted resources
- Experience of implementing change management projects to develop or improve services
- Ability to lead the strategic development of a business with similar scale and complexity to the Clinical Board
- Proven conceptual and analytical skills
- Able to use power and influence to develop and improve services
- Able to make and take decisions, after analysis of options and implications
- Strong communication skills (written, oral, presentational and interpersonal)
- Ability to communicate effectively with senior members of the Healthboard
- Ability to effectively lead a high
- performing team
- Ability to provide strategic direction and leadership in accordance with values
- Able to multi-task and continue to function to a high standard when under pressure
- Able to communicate well and liaise with people at all levels within and outside the Healthboard
- IT literate (proficient in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
