**Description**:
Data Centre Operators are responsible for building and supporting LMAX’s infrastructure and managing our physical assets.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**

**Core**
- Install, manage, and decommission physical infrastructure in collocation data centres and offices.
- Support and troubleshoot infrastructure and liaise with 3rd party vendors.
- Handle operational incidents in LMAX’s infrastructure, such as hardware faults, software bugs, and performance issues in line with LMAX process.
- Supports remote, office, and on-site data centre facility support when required.
- Can work effectively in a team and takes direction from senior colleagues.
- Maintain storage and backup media and appliances.

**Mainstream**:

- Supporting internal infrastructure including corporate, development, and production environments
- Cataloguing, tracking, and disposal of physical assets in line with company procedures.
- Support the Head of Systems and Director of Technical Operations with day-to-day data centre supplier management duties
- Engage with the supplier management stakeholders (Legal/InfoSec/GRC) to ensure that records are maintained, and contractual SLAs are delivered.
- Ensure all new designs and builds are consistent and follow standards.
- Displays accountability and ownership of our office and data centre facilities.
- Manage, monitor, and maintain systems proactively to ensure continued uptime.
- Manages expectations and objectives with colleagues, giving clear progress updates and realistic delivery times.
- Pro-actively manage time and workload.
- Adherence to company procedures and policies.

**Once more advanced in the role**:

- Hardware evaluations - balancing performance, price, space, and power.
- Pro-active responsibility for the efficiency and capacity of our sites, such as space, power, and component stock.
- Challenge the "status quo" on how things are "done" - will present appropriate new ideas and methods to the team that makes us more efficient.
- Promote a culture of uncompromising high standards for delivery where short cuts are avoided and team members recognise it as normal to do the right thing.
- Contributes to the company’s Environmental, Social and Governance strategy and implementation.
- Supporting the wider Technology Operations department as required

**Requirements**:

- Previous experience in a similar role
- In-depth knowledge of data centre environments, servers, and network equipment
- Extensive experience in installing, monitoring, and maintaining data centre equipment.
