The Role

You will have a strong background in neuroscience and ageing research, and will be skilled in culturing cells, including the maintenance and differentiation of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS). You are also expected to be familiar with preparation of human tissue, immunostaining and microscopy. Experience in the generation and analysis of transcriptomic (e.g. RNAseq), proteomic (e.g. Imaging Mass Cytometry and MALDI-imaging mass spectrometry) or genomic data (e.g. next-generation-sequencing) would be advantageous, but not essential.

The post is available on a full time, fixed term basis for 3 years.

Key Accountabilities
Plan and carry out independent original research encompassing investigations leading to the discovery of new knowledge
Assess research findings for the need/scope for further investigations
Regular liaison with the Principal Investigators to organise workload and research activities, using appropriate materials, facilities and equipment
Contribute to the writing up of their research and its dissemination, either through seminars and conference presentations or through publications
Provide guidance, where necessary, to other staff and students including possible supervision of postgraduate and undergraduate project students as agreed with supervisors
Participate in and share your findings at public engagement events

The Person (Essential)

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Experience of working with human tissue (e.g., preparation, immunostaining and microscopy)
Experience in culturing, preferably human iPS and derived cells (e.g., neurons and astrocytes)
Experience in molecular techniques (Western blotting, RNA/DNA extraction and quantification, ELISA) (desired)
Experience or understanding in the generation and analysis of omics datasets (e.g., transcriptomics through RNAseq, proteomics through Imaging Mass Cytometry or MALDI-imaging mass spectrometry) or genomic data (e.g. next-generation-sequencing) (desired)
Experience with R (desired)
Excellent communication, team-working and interpersonal skills
Good scientific writing and presentation skills

**Qualifications**:
A PhD or the equivalent in professional qualifications and experience in the research area required (Research Associate Level)
