An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Enterprise System Lead Engineer to join the IT team within Norwich City Council. We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic individual who can support our business strategy and provide continued development of the IT support function.

In addition, there will be a requirement to implement new core components to the IT infrastructure, whether on premise or using cloud services, to support the business as it undertakes its digital transformation activities.

The post holder will report to the Infrastructure, Security & Support Manager and will plan and deliver the Council’s IT programme of work and IT road map in line with the Council’s transformation programme, ICT and Digital strategies. They will work closely with the Enterprise & Cloud Architect developing the infrastructure services including cloud and local technologies.

Typical activities will include:

- Ensuring business as usual operations meet SLA - striving for enhancements
- Implementing the change programme so that project timelines are met
- Analysing and monitoring trends to ensure sufficient capacity is provided
- Mentoring & supporting other colleagues
- Implementing automation to improve the service

Due to the technical nature of the role, previous experience of Formal enterprise server training and demonstrable understanding of enterprise level technical IT infrastructure engineering is essential (Microsoft Windows Server, Linux, Solaris Unix, VMWare, Azure and SAN technologies).

The ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects with tight deadlines related to enterprise tools and technologies is an integral part of the role.

Out of hours work will be required to support the organisation therefore flexibility with working hours is needed.
