**Family Liaison and Safeguarding Lead**

We have an exciting opportunity at our The Linden Academy for a Family Liaison and Safeguarding Lead. The Family Liaison and Safeguarding Lead works support vulnerable families. Primarily, you will work with parents and carers to children who are susceptibleof safeguarding concerns to promote the value of education and encourage engagement in all matters relating to the child’s progress. Ensuring pupils’ well-being is paramount on your agenda, in addition to implementing appropriate support for students to overcomelearning barriers.

You will be joining our inclusion team who have the children at the centre of everything they do. The Linden Academy is a great school where all children are provided with the opportunity to thrive.

You will be part of the successful, motivated Inclusion team at The Linden Academy. The team comprises of 5 members of staff who work together to ensure that all of our children are able to thrive in their learning. As part of the Trust’s Primary Partnershipyou will have access to extensive on-line training (at every level), and programmes to significantly develop your own skills through internal and external training.

- The role voluntary organisations have in safeguarding
- Types of abuse and harm
- Legislation, government guidance and national frameworks for safeguarding children and adults at risk
- Role and responsibilities of local key safeguarding agencies, including social services and the police
- Local social services processes for the assessment and referral of safeguarding concerns
- Local and national agencies that provide support for children, adults and their families

**Family Liaison Worker**
- Ability to build effective working relationships with all stakeholders in particular parents
- Ability to advise and support individuals at all levels within an organisation
- Act with integrity and respect when working with others
- Good administration and data analysis skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong influencing skills

**Main purpose**

The DSL will take lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection across the school. They will take part in strategy discussions and inter-agency meetings and contribute to the assessment of children.

They will advise and support other members of staff on child welfare and child protection matters and liaise with relevant agencies such as the local authority and police.

Raising the profile of safeguarding with the school so that all teachers, students, parents and visitors are aware of safeguarding issues and referrals

Some safeguarding activities may be delegated to deputies, although the DSL will retain lead responsibility for the work of deputies and will ensure it is completed to the highest standard.

The DSL will be required to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, and follow school policies and the staff code of conduct.

During term time, the DSL should always be available during school hours for staff in the school to discuss any safeguarding concerns. Ideally this will be in person, but can also be via phone or video calling in exceptional circumstances.
