An opportunity has arisen within River and Wolds Primary Care Mental Health Network for someone with lived experience of using mental health services to use their knowledge and experience of illness and recovery to support others. The role is a full time, permanent position.

Peer Support Workers support with independent functioning and social participation, using their own knowledge mental ill health and recovery strategies, helping service users to find workable solutions, inspire hope and promote opportunities.

The organisation is committed to training and development with ongoing Peer Support Worker training in place.
- The Peer Support Worker (PSW) uses lived experience to provide peer support, advice and practical assistance to help service users gain a sense of hope, independence of action, and support to regain some control over their lives within their unique recovery process.
- To establish positive relationships, mutuality and information sharing, that will promote choice, self-determination and opportunities for service users, their valued roles and connection to local communities.
- They will act as a recovery champion and an ambassador of recovery for the Trust with external agencies and partner organisation.
- The PSW will fulfil this role within the MDT through the provision of information and a range of learning opportunities for staff and others across the Trust. This may be through the Recovery College or within the Team.
- To work to the agreed plans and objectives of the Team, Recovery College, and the Line Manager/Health & Social Care Professional
