Are you passionate about promoting independence for people with complex mental health needs?
Specialist Treatment and Recovery Service (STaRS) is a unique, multi-disciplinary team offering both in-patient and community adult mental health rehabilitation services. Peer support workers are highly regarded within the team and the role is valued for promoting independence for people with complex mental health needs by working collaboratively with service users, nurses, recovery workers, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, and occupational therapy staff, as well as external agencies.
As well as working to the Trust values, STaRS have identified team values which shape the way staff work. These are open, trustworthy, honest, empathetic, and respectful.
The team works with up to 40 people in the community and has 5 in-patient beds (3 male/2 female). There is an expectation that the post holder will base themselves at the STaRS team bases at Townend Court in Hull as well as being willing to work shifts and weekends as required.
Provide peer support, advice, and practical assistance to help service users gain a sense of hope, independence of action, and support to regain some control over their lives within their unique recovery process.
Establish positive relationships, mutuality, and information sharing, that will promote choice, self-determination and opportunities for service users, their valued roles and connection to local communities.
Act as a Recovery Champion and an Ambassador of Recovery for the Trust with external agencies and partner organisation.
With the support of the registered healthcare professional, plan, organise and implement tasks, activities, and care/treatment programmes for identified service users.
Promote a caring environment where equality and diversity issues are respected, and service users and families/carers are enabled to be partners in their care.
Participate in regular line management and clinical supervision, and to identify personal developmental needs.
To maintain up to date knowledge and skills.
Have a knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and policy and implications of these to service users and their care.
Follow Trust Policies, Procedures and Value-based Framework all times
Participate in regular supervision as per Trust policy
Develop one-self and contribute to the development of others
