**Job description: Senior Purchaser**

Furnished Homes is a family run contract furniture and home furnishings company who specialise in supplying to social housing providers, care homes, landlords, the NHS, relocation groups and private & public bodies. We have been established for over 25 years with 3 large depots covering the whole of England, Wales and Scotland.

We are seeking an experienced senior purchaser to join our small but dynamic purchasing team and this is a fantastic opportunity for someone to play a key role in the growth and development of the department working closely alongside and supporting the Head of Purchasing.

You should thrive in a fast paced environment with the ability to multi-task and hit extremely tight deadlines. You will need to be a confident people person with the ability to communicate effectively across a range of platforms with a variety of different stakeholders.

You will need a proactive approach with the ability to identify not only problems but the solution too.

**Key daily responsibilities to include**:
**STOCK MANAGEMENT**
- Responsibility for stock take administration including overseeing digital preparation, data inputting and investigation of discrepancies across all 3 sites
- working closely alongside the warehouse managers ensuring stock takes are targeted and discrepancies are actioned
- Planning department stock requirements including overseeing stock allocations, the building of stock assembly orders, stock adjustments for damaged or returned items
- Responsibility for internal stock movements between our 3 warehouses across the UK and stock collections from suppliers to include liaising with transport companies, warehouse managers and suppliers
- Maintaining internal systems including planned PO maintenance

**CATERGORY MANAGEMENT**
- Autonomous category management of one of our key categories for our largest customer. To include management of inventory levels and supply chain logistics maintaining optimal stock levels and minimising costs.
- Identify and evaluate suppliers whilst building strong vendor relationships to ensure competitive pricing, reliability and service level
- Evaluate stock reorder and holding levels in conjunction with the purchasing manager & multiple warehouse managers across the entire business

**-**Establishing stock requirements using a variety of methods & expediting purchase orders where necessary ensuring accuracy and speed

**ADDITIONAL TASKS**
- Assisting the purchasing manager to develop and maintain internal systems and processes across a range of platforms ensuring the efficient running of the purchasing department
- Cover for the purchasing manager during periods of leave to include responsibility for junior members of the team
- Supporting and developing junior members of staff with the support of the purchasing manager

**-**Attending supplier meetings & trade shows with the purchasing manager which may involve an aspect of travel on occasion within the UK

**Essential experience and core competencies**:

- Experience of Microsoft Dynamics would be advantageous but not essential. However, you will need to be a proficient IT user and should be able to confidently access and use a range of programmes including One Drive, Excel, Outlook.
- Advanced Excel skills including, X-Lookup and pivot tables.
- Recent experience of configuring and/or managing a migration between purchasing systems would be extremely valuable.
- The ability to maintain accuracy and pace in a complex, fast moving and changing environment. You should be self-motivated and highly organised
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to develop and maintain optimum relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You should be able to communicate clearly and professionally across a range of mediums. We communicate via several WhatsApp workgroups which you will be required to install on your mobile
- Experience of working in a fast faced & time critical business
- If you would like to work remotely or hybrid, you will need a suitable, dedicated place to work at home (a private space where you won't get interrupted), with natural light, and an excellent broadband connection.
