**Job Title: Accounting Officer - Asset Control (12 month Contract)**

**Salary: £24,100**

**Location: Solihull/hybrid**

**Hours**:Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm with one hour for lunch.**

A well-established financial services business with Platinum Investors in People accreditation, are looking for an **Accounting Officer **to join their busy team.

You will be part of the Financial Accounting team of 18 people, which is responsible for accounting for all Group companies and for making most of the Group’s payments to borrowers, introducers and suppliers.

The Asset Control team within finance is responsible for ensuring that the accounts of the group reflect the transactions shown on the mortgage accounting system and that all cash transactions with borrowers actually update the individual borrower accounts.

**Duties and responsibilities**
- Posting transactions to nominal ledger accounts from bank statements and journals;
- Analysis of transactions on both the loan ledgers and finance systems;
- Investigation of any differences between amounts showing within the two systems; and
- Several other data posting analysis and reporting tasks.

The role will involve a significant amount of contact with other functional areas of the group, notably the administration teams in operations, underwriting and cashiers, and team members are expected to develop a high level of understanding of the way in which customer accounts function and are administered.

**Experience Required**:

- Prior experience of working within a financial environment or undertaking a finance based study course
- Strong numeracy skills and the ability to analyse large volumes of data
- Effective communication skills for face to face, telephone and written communication
- Strong IT skills, particularly with spreadsheets
- Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines, whilst maintaining high levels of accuracy
- An inquisitive mind and the confidence to ask questions to develop knowledge and understanding
- Flexible working approach and the ability to commit to extended hours if required to at short notice
- Previous financial services experience preferred, but not essential
- Experience of using accounting software including Coda Financials
- Qualified or part qualified AAT or part qualified ACCA.

In return for your hard work, you will earn a starting salary of £24,100 plus excellent benefits.
