An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Rota and Metal on Metal Co-ordinator to work within the Musculoskeletal Directorate, based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

We are seeking a capable and enthusiastic person to work in conjunction with the other Rota Co-ordinator to ensure the maintenance of a high-quality, effective and flexible centralised electronic rota for medical staff across sites, and ensure efficient functioning of the Directorate medical cover.

Within this role you will also provide administrative oversight on the Metal on Metal project (MoM). MoM is a national recall programme for all patients who were fitted with a particular type of hip implant which needs close monitoring, through regular blood testing and consultant review, and you will be the point of contact for patients and their relatives ensuring they have timely review adhering to MHRA guidelines.

**Main duties and responsibilities include**:

- Responsibility for producing an efficient and effective rota management and absence management system for medical staff within the department in conjunction with wider Trust developments.
- To work with the Clinical Leads/Directorate Manager to review medical locum spend across the Directorate.
- To manage the rota management and absence management systems.
- To assist Lead Clinicians in ensuring the equitable distribution of on-call internal cover across consultants within the services.
- Constantly review working practices in the rota management and absence management and liaise with Medical HR in order to identify where operational improvements can be made.
- To act as a contact point and advisor for rolling out the absence management and rotas of medical staff across the Trust.
- Ensure that any relevant information is communicated to the directorate and clinic reception teams as appropriate.
- To develop a sound understanding of the European Working Time Directive and The New Deal for Junior Medical Staff, and to ensure that the way in which rotas are managed (particularly in terms of the use of prospective cover and any additional hours worked) enables compliance with these and minimises the use of locum staff.
- Sending out patient letters and blood request forms in a timely manner to ensure patients are seen within their target date.
- Accurate input, and analysis, of the MoM data. Including checking that all required information is noted and to ensure the information contained is correct. To ensure validation is undertaken to correct any errors.
- To use the Trust wide patient target list (PTL) alongside the MoM data to make sure patients are booked and the patient administration system (PAS) is updated.
